ABOUT THE DEVELOPERS

HerePin has been designed and created by HerePin Inc., an Auckland, New Zealand based app startup founded by Mark Bardi and Greg Elisara.

A few years ago, Mark quit his tech job in San Francisco, sold everything he owned, and embarked on a solo backpacking trip around the world. For nearly 500 days, he carried all of his possessions in a 44 litre Osprey pack. No smartphone. No computer. No iPad. Without any technology to consume his attention, he finally had the time to notice how much the world had changed. Every traveller was carrying a smart phone, SIM cards were virtually free, prepaid plans were affordable, and WiFi was available nearly everywhere. Yet despite all these modern conveniences, he noticed two gaps in the tourism market; travelling can be lonely at times and it can still be hard to find out what is happening around you. With these two problems in mind, Mark and Greg created HerePin.
